I am named after two of my great grandmothers who were both from Italy, Giovanna (Jenna) and Rose. I come from a VERY large extended Italian family. Both of my parents have seven brothers and sisters and I have 28 first cousins.
I graduated from Michigan State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education and English . I earned my Master's in Literacy Education in April 2011.
I have two sisters and am the middle child. My older sister lives in Ohio with her husband and my younger sister lives in Michigan and is getting married in June!
I was born and raised in Muskegon, Michigan. I lived specifically in an area called Norton Shores which is right on Lake Michigan.
I was very involved in sports as a child. I began competitive gymnastics when I was 7 years old. I decided to begin school sports when I entered middle school and was a three sport athlete (tennis, volleyball and soccer) in high school.
I love to travel and see new places. Some of my favorite places I have been are the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Mexico and Hawaii.
This is my 12th year teaching 1st grade. I love teaching this grade because of the growth that children make during this time. Many come in as non readers and by the end of the year they become successful and confident readers.
